Jack Callahan
American Portrait Artist
Educator, Artist, Cape Ann Icon
An award-winning portrait painter, Jack Callahan was adept in many mediums but primarily preferred to paint with either oil or pastels. He was active in Boston art circles as well as in Rockport and Gloucester where he had studios and was admired as a distinguished expert portrait artist.
Jack was an artist through and through but he was also a gifted teacher, an eclectic collector of antiques, and had a style and personality that endeared many.
Jack received many awards for his paintings during his career and many of his commissioned portraits are hanging in universities, private collections, and financial institutions.
This website has been created by his grandchildren in an effort to honor his legacy and importantly to reconnect his unclaimed works back to the individuals or families of the individuals whom they portray. Please contact us if you can help us with this endeavor.
